What is Event Parameter?
Additional pieces of metadata sent alongside an event to provide specific context about the action that occurred.
If an event tells GA4 what happened, parameters describe the details of what happened.
For example, when a user views a product, the event is view_item. But viewing a product is useless for reporting unless you know which product. So, GA4 sends event parameters alongside it:
currency: "USD"value: 99.99itemsarray (containing the SKU, category, and name).
Important Limitation
Out of the box, GA4 collects dozens of parameters, but you cannot report on them unless you map them to Custom Dimensions in your GA4 admin settings. Many marketers log immense amounts of parameter data via GTM, only to realize months later that it's invisible in their reports because they forgot this crucial mapping step.
