What is Data Stream?
The specific flow of data moving from a platform (Web, iOS, or Android app) into your GA4 Property.
In the old Universal Analytics, data was separated by "Views" (e.g., a View for Web traffic, a View for iOS traffic).
In Google Analytics 4, the architecture flattened. A single GA4 "Property" holds all your data. To get data into that property, you create Data Streams. If you have a website and a mobile app, you would create two separate Data Streams (and get two separate Measurement IDs), but all the data would funnel into the exact same reporting dashboard.
This architectural shift is why GA4 is so much more powerful for businesses with both apps and websites, as it resolves the "siloed data" problem of the past decade.
